Meet the TPF Donkeys
Don Pancho Our sweet boy left us in 2022. He is the reason TPF exists and we treasure his memory. DP was our 30+ year old mini-donkey. He came to TPF terrified of people nearly 17 years ago. He was Jeremi's best friend in a donkey suit.
Peppa and Poppy are a mother/daughter duo rescued from a kill pen. These girls came to us very sick and very wild. Poppy is 20+ years old. Peppa is about 11 yrs old. These girls are in our large 15+ acre pasture with cows and goats. They protect our herds from coyotes and stray dogs. Peppa and Poppy have been here since 2022 and are slowly learning to trust people. They let Jeremi sometimes pet them but typically keep their distance from visitors. We plan for them to live here for the remainder of their lives where they are safe and valued.
Nestor came to us in 2023 from a kill pen. He was quickly castrated upon arrival. Nestor had to have been a beloved pet at some time in his life. He is a doll baby! He loves attention and will follow people around walking backwards begging for booty scratches. Nestor is about 8 years old and is typically seen hanging out with Peppa and Poppy. Like our girls, he will live here the remainder of his life. Never to be discarded again.
Peaches was born here in 2022. Her mother was a rescue that came here pregnant. Peaches was born on our farm and will remain on our farm for the rest of her life. She is a mini donkey and very spoiled. She is always first to meet anyone in the pasture. Peaches is a silly girl and is always getting into "trouble" with her antics. She is the farm clown and always up for a laugh.
JoJo is the mini mule on the right. (the mini mare has been adopted). JoJo also came from a kill pen. She is a younger gal (less than 10) and WILD! She is up for adoption to someone that understands mules and is willing to work with a fearful gal. Until then, she will safely live here. Update, spring 2026, Jojo willingly takes treats from Jeremi. She still refuses to be caught willingly but the treats is a huge positive. We will not give up on this girl.
These boys just came to the farm August 2024. Dunkin (more white) is 3 year old mini donkey john. Georgie (less white) is an 8 yr old mini donkey jack (soon to be castrated). These boys came from a loving home that just couldn't care for them any more. Dunkin was returned to his loving home when his owner got back on her feet. We stay in touch and he is thriving. Georgie was adopted by our friends at the Lupine School in Carrboro. He lives there with Butters, a pony, that was also adopted from us.
Asno, Eddy, Nicky, Greta, Penny, Percy, and Raya came originally from a kill pen in Oklahoma. A kind woman had them sent to her in NC and then her life changed and these babies need an emergency place to go. We took all 7 and have been working on getting them vetted and ready for forever homes. Asno is the mom to Raya. She is in her teens and a sweet sweet girl. She has been adopted by a family friend, along with Penny.

He is slowly learning to trust and has started reaching in for treats from our hand.

Ruth is a one year old jenny that came with her mom, Shiloh, when their owners could not longer care for her. They are either large mini's or small standards, or maybe a mix of the two. She is hilarious and super fun.
Steve Allan was a stray at our local shelter. We won the auction bid for him and were super happy to bring this young jack home to safety where he couldn't breed. We had him castrated and the vet student that assisted in his castration adopted him. He is thriving with her.
Coy and Webster just came to us early 2026. Webster was originally rescued by us and adopted out in 2023. He came to us with Nestor. Webster was very loved by his adopter but when life changed and they could no longer take care of him any more, we obviously agreed to take him back AND his best friend Coy. Coy is 26 years old and had lived with that family almost his entire life. It was heartbreaking to see them separate from their humans but the boys adjusted to our farm life well.
