What is the adoption process?

If you have fallen in love with a Turtle Pants Farm animal, we invite you to apply to adopt them!

Following the submission of your completed applications, our adoption team will review your application and reach out to the vet and personal references that you listed. If you are a first-time pet owner, don’t worry! We can work with you to find a vet in your area. Your personal references should be people who can speak to ability to provide proper care for your pet.

A member of our adoption team will contact you by phone or email to discuss the animal you are interested in and may include their foster to answer any of your questions.

We will schedule a meet-and-greet with you, the animal, and their foster to make sure it’s a love match! Following the meet-and-greet, and if all parties agree, you will sign an adoption contract and pay the applicable adoption donation via check, Venmo, or PayPal and take your new furry friend home!

How much is the adoption donation?

Dogs: $375

Cats: $125 ($200 for two cats)

Other Animals: Dependent on that particular animal

What does the adoption donation cover?

All of our animals are current on all applicable vaccinations, spayed/neutered (or adopted out with a spay/neuter contract and required deposit which will be returned after being altered), microchipped, and checked over by a vet when adopted out. If necessary, Turtle Pants Farm takes care of all veterinary care according to the animal’s needs, including the administration of preventatives such as heartworm and flea and tick while in our care. Once adopted, it is the responsibility of the adopter to continue to keep the animal current on all vaccinations and preventatives. All of our animals are properly socialized and live in loving foster homes where we can properly assess their personalities and temperaments to best match adopters and animals!

How much of my donation to Turtle Pants Farm actually goes to the animals?

100%! Any monetary donation to Turtle Pants Farm goes directly to the care of the animals in our rescue. Our team is fully volunteer-based and no one gets paid or compensated for their work with TPF because we all believe that every dollar should go back to our mission and the well-being of the animals in our care.

Does Turtle Pants Farm take owner surrendered animals?

We do on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately, like most rescues and shelters, we are only able to take owner surrenders periodically because of capacity. Please reach out to us at turtlepantsfarm@gmail.com if you need to surrender your animal.
